Unitil seeks Mass. gas rate cut
Hampton-based Until has filed for a summer-season gas rate decrease in Massachusetts.
The utility holding company said a typical residential heating customer using 41 therms per month in the summer will see a decrease of $10.69, or 13.6 percent, from current rates. Bill impacts will vary depending upon rate class and usage. The company said the rate change is primarily due to decreases in commodity costs of purchased gas.
The lower rates will take effect on May 1.
As for the possibility of rate decreases being considered in New Hampshire, Unitil spokesperson Stephanie Schuyler told NHBR DAILY the company would be making a statement on today. — CINDY KIBBE
