U.S. chamber head to speak in N.H.

Tom Donohue, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will address New Hampshire business leaders in May at a Manchester breakfast.

The May 2 event, presented in cooperation with the Greater Concord, Greater Laconia-Weirs Beach, Greater Portsmouth and Wolfeboro Area chambers of commerce, is part of the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire’s National Leaders Forum, sponsored by Lincoln Financial Group.

The U.S. chamber represents three million companies, associations, state and local chambers, and American chambers of commerce abroad.

Since becoming president of the organization in 1997, Donohue has established the Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, has won significant court cases at the state and federal levels, and in elections for state attorneys general and Supreme Court judges.

He also has revitalized the National Chamber Foundation, the chamber’s public policy think tank, which attempts to shape the policy debate on business issues, with major initiatives on intellectual property theft and counterfeiting, capital markets and accounting rules and travel and tourism.

Before joining the chamber, Donohue served for 13 years as president and chief executive officer of the American Trucking Association.
