Timberland inks deal with Swatch Watch parent

A new collection of outdoor-inspired watches will be added to the assortment of footwear, gear and outdoor apparel offered by The Timberland Company next month following the recent announcement that the Stratham-based company has entered into a licensing agreement with Endura SA, the label and licensing company of the Swatch Group Ltd.

Endura SA will develop a new collection which will be marketed under the Timberland brand and include casual and performance pieces designed for men and women.

“The [Swatch] Group has a reputation for a unique ability to design product that is relevant across a range of consumer groups,” said Patrick Baboin, vice president of licensing for The Timberland Company. “We’ve been impressed from the start with their leadership in design and manufacturing as well as their marketing savvy and widescale distribution network.”

Endura SA, makers of luxury, high end and mid-range watches from Breguet and Omega to Swatch and Endura, is the world’s largest manufacturer of watches and jewelry.

“We are delighted with today’s agreement between Endura and Timberland,” said Endura SA spokesperson Beatrice Howald. “The Timberland Company’s strong values and the strength and versatility of the brand are well known and we look forward to combining our expertise in innovative with design with Timberland’s brand heritage.”
