SoVerNet sale wins Vt. OK

Plans to sell the Bellows Falls, Vt.-based Internet service provider SoVerNet to Atlantic Tele-Network for $12 million have been approved by the Vermont Public Service Board.

While Vermont is its core market, SoVerNet provides dial-up service to much of New Hampshire.

Final approval by federal regulators is expected later this month.

In a Feb. 2 order, the three-member Public Service Board wrote said the proposed $12 million sale was in the “public good.”

“If this sale is approved, we’ll probably be expanding,” Michael Price, president and CEO of Atlantic Tele-Network, told the Rutland Herald. “The general attitude is that SoVerNet did many things right and we want to add to that.” – NHBR STAFF
