Rochester named a Main Street community
The city of Rochester is the latest municipality to be named an official Main Street community by the New Hampshire Main Street Center.
Named on Wednesday during the center’s annual Downtown Conference, the city will now “become part of a statewide and national network to share in the experiences of successful revitalization efforts,” said Kathy La Plante, director of the NHMSC.
She said that being selected as a Main Street Community means deciding to take advantage of the “Main Street Approach” – a method of strengthening downtowns that was developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
