Pfizer exec to speak at alma mater

The University of New Hampshire’s 2006 Iddles Lecture will feature an alumnus who leads Pfizer’s worldwide drug research efforts.

John L. LaMattina, who earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from UNH in 1975, is now a senior vice president at Pfizer Inc. and president of the pharmaceutical company’s Global Research and Development division. He oversees the drug discovery and development efforts of over 13,000 colleagues in the United States, Europe and Asia.

LaMattina will give two lectures on Tuesday, March 7. The first, a technical presentation titled “Torcetrapib/Atorvastatin – A Case Study in Innovation,” will begin at 11:10 a.m. in Iddles Auditorium L103 (Parsons Hall). The second lecture, intended for a more general audience, is titled “Pharmaceutical R&D – The World’s Hope for Tomorrow’s Cures” and will begin at 4 p.m. in Iddles L101. – NHBR STAFF
