New Belknap County assistance approved by FEMA
Homeowners, renters and small-business owners affected by October’s floodwaters in Belknap County are now eligible for disaster assistance.
An amendment handed down today by the Federal Emergency Management Agency added Belknap County to the original Oct. 26 list of areas in the Granite State that were accepted for individual disaster relief.
Belknap County had been made eligible for public assistance in the Oct. 26 declaration, but not individual assistance.
Today’s announcement makes county residents eligible for individual grants of up to $26,200 to cover disaster-related needs, including housing or transportation assistance costs and medical, dental or funeral costs. They also are eligible for low-interest loans through the Small Business Administration and the Farm Service Agency and disaster unemployment assistance.
