N.H. Thrift Bancshares reports earnings rise
New Hampshire Thrift Bancshares Inc.’s second-quarter net income rose 7 percent, the company reported.
The Newport-based holding company for Lake Sunapee Bank said income increased to $1.39 million from $1.3 million during the same period a year ago. On a per-share basis, earnings rose to 32 cents from 30 cents.
Interest and dividend income for the second quarter rose to $8.22 million from $6.98 million and the provision for loan losses rose to $68,500. A year ago there was no provision for loan losses.
As of June 30, New Hampshire Thrift had total assets of $671 million and total deposits of $451.1 million. – JEFF FEINGOLD
