MetroCast enlists Cedar Point technology
MetroCast Cablevision has selected Cedar Point Communications of Derry as the switching vendor for the delivery of voice-over-IP cable telephony services to its 110,000 subscribers in New Hampshire, Maine, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
The initial launch of Cedar Point’s integrated packet-based SAFARI C Multimedia Switching System is scheduled for fall 2006 and will begin with the residential telephony rollouts in the Granite State.
According to Cedar Point Officials, SAFARI C is the only integrated carrier class switch that incorporates all OF the components that make up the PacketCable voice switching infrastructure and is designed to accommodate the anticipated future use of video telephony, and other technology as well as current voice switching needs.
“Our research into the delivery of voice services and the proximity of our two companies has led to a close association with Cedar Point,” said Steve Murdough, senior vice president and general manager of MetroCast Cablevision. “Their focus on carrier class telephony and their dedication to meet the industry’s needs have made them a strong technical resource and a logical choice for our voice switching equipment.” – NHBR STAFF REPORT
