Lynch signs bill guaranteeing Guard/Reserve pay

A bill that guarantees pay and benefits for state employees called to active duty in the National Guard or Reserve was signed into law by Gov. John Lynch on Tuesday.

The bill puts into law an executive order Lynch issued last September to provide the pay and benefits. Lynch said National Guard and Reserve members and their families make tremendous sacrifices, and he wanted to make sure the state is doing everything it can to help them.

The law guarantees that state employees on active duty receive health and retirement benefits and the difference in pay between their state and military salaries. – JEFF FEINGOLD
