Lindt plans $30m N.H. expansion
Lindt & Sprüngli, the Swiss-based premium chocolate giant, yesterday unveiled a $30 million plan to expand its Lindt USA headquarters and production facility in Stratham.
Lindt USA has see 30 percent annual sales growth since 2002, the company said, and will add an additional 300,000 square feet of space to its current facility. The expansion will give the firm increased production and storage capabilities for its Lindor truffle collection and the ability to produce its full line of bars, including Excellence, Lindor Milk and Swiss bars, domestically. The bar collection is currently manufactured exclusively in Europe.
“Lindt’s consistent growth and product innovation has fueled increased consumer demand for premium chocolate worldwide,” said Thomas Linemayr, CEO and president of Lindt USA. “This investment strengthens our presence and momentum in the U.S. marketplace and will drive our ability to efficiently deliver delicious chocolate using the highest quality ingredients.”
The expansion, scheduled for completion in fall 2007, is expected to generate hundreds of local jobs, the company said in a press release. – JEFF FEINGOLD
