Learn Italian, Olympics-style

A Nashua-based creator of language-learning software has introduced a way to ensure that viewers’ enjoyment of the 2006 Winter Olympics is not hindered by a language barrier.

Transparent Language has made it possible for winter sports enthusiasts to download – for free – its Before you Know It Italian vocabulary program, designed especially for the games, from the firm’s Web site. The Italian Before You Know it-Winter Games Edition has been designed to offer insight to the key winter sports words and phrases used to highlight the happenings in Torino, Italy next month.

“We created the Winter Games Edition because we knew no matter what language our users are currently learning they would want to brush up on their Italian in time for the winter games,” said company President, Michael Quinlan.

The Winter Games Edition sprang from the success of the 15 different language learning software programs already available through Transparent Language and the “Lite” versions available free online.

“The fact the thousands of users a day download Before You Know It Lite is testimony to how much fun and value people get our of the program,” Quinlan said of the abridged versions.
