Environmental Power picks Kessel for top post

Richard Kessel has been named president and chief executive officer of Environmental Power Corporation, the Portsmouth-based developer and operator of renewable power facilities.

Kessel succeeds Kamlesh R. Tejwani, who has served as Environmental Power’s president and CEO since July 2003 and who will stay on as vice chairman of the company.

Kessel also will serve as president of Environmental Power’s subsidiary, Microgy Inc., taking over from Donald A. “Andy” Livingston, who has been serving as acting president since March.

Kessel is a veteran in the energy and environmental sectors, having served as president and CEO of Suez Environment North America, a $1.3 billion water, wastewater and environmental management business, and president and CEO of Trigen Energy Corp., a $1 billion asset-based energy services company. – JEFF FEINGOLD
