Bottomline sets sights on Asia

Bottomline Technologies has its eye on Asia and the rest of the world as a market for its payroll software products and services.

The Portsmouth-based company will expand its office in Melbourne, Australia, by fielding a new sales and support team dedicated to customers and prospects in the Asia Pacific region, the company announced.

Vinay Prabhakar, strategic project executive at Bottomline, has been named regional manager for Bottomline’s Asia-Pacific banking team.

In addition, Bottomline announced last week that it has added a multi-language user interface for translation into new languages by third-party service providers, and offered complete support for Asian clearing systems that function with multi-byte character sets into its WebSeries Enterprise Payment Platform.

This software allows financial institutions to deploy Web-based cash management from to corporate clients. The also changes allow multi-national corporations to clear payments in different country around the world in a more centralized fashion.

On Monday, Bottomline also announced that it plans to add new director to its board: Michael Curran, former executive vice president of Bank of American Global Treasury Services. Curran is expected to be approved at the company’s annual meeting on Nov. 16,
