Bentley Kinetics receives VC funding
From improving that golf swing to repairing an old sports injury, a Manchester- based biokinetics company is one step closer to completing the development of new technology that will benefit athletic trainers, rehabilitation professionals and their clients since receiving Series A financing from a Waltham, Mass., venture capital firm.
Bentley Kinetics, which specializes in the development of body motion and analysis technology, announced today that Kodiak Venture Partners has offered their endorsement and financial support to the tune of $2 million.
“This financing will enable us to achieve our goal of building the world’s leading technology company focused on maximizing body performance while minimizing injury through the use of applied biokinetic science,” said Ron Borelli, chairman and CEO of Bentley.
The developer of the first completely wireless motion analysis system designed to help golfers perfect their swing, Bentley Kinetics offers trainers and rehabilitation professionals the ability to improve performance and avoid injury by measuring their clients’ performance in real-time and then provide virtual instruction by leading instructors via the Internet.
“What previously required a team of biomechanists and a room full of computers can now be done in real time using wireless motion tracking sensors, kinetic analysis software and a laptop,” said Mike Bentley, company founder and chief technical officer.
The recent funding will assist Bentley Kinetics in working towards applying their technology to the needs of the rehabilitation industry and other sports.
“The combination of our technology, together with the financial resources of Kodiak and a seasoned management team, will enable us to revolutionize the instructional and technological resources available to the physical activity field,” said Bentley, a certified biomechanist. “Our goal is to not only improve sports performance but to minimize the injury-producing forces on the body by teaching efficient body movement patterns.”
