Whole Foods Market, the country’s largest natural and organic foods retailer, is planning to open its first New Hampshire location, according to a statement released by the company following the November close of their fourth quarter.
The statement listed Nashua among the sites of eight planned new stores for which leases were recently signed by Whole Foods Market Inc.
A list of “Stores in Development” found on the company’s Web site also names Nashua as a site for a 55,000-square-foot store.
A specific location or timeline for construction was not given. Company officials could not be reached by NHBR Daily for comment.
According to the statement, Whole Foods Market expects to open between 18 and 20 new stores in the 2007 fiscal year.
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market was founded in 1980 and currently has 188 stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Whole Foods Market Inc. closed its 2006 fiscal year with $5.6 billion in sales. – TRACIE STONE
