Presstek chief a published author

The chief executive officer of Presstek, a printing equipment manufacturer headquartered in Hudson, is now an author.

Edward J Marino’s first work? The 300-page “The Loyalty Payoff: Building Loyalty to Boost the Bottom Line,” which is being published by National Association for Printing Leadership, a trade group out of commercial printers and graphic arts firms based New Jersey.

In the book, Marino details case studies that demonstrate “the loyalty covenant” and how it helps a business’ profits.

For instance, he recounts how his good relationship with Precision Lithograining, a western Massachusetts firm, led its retiring owner to come to Presstek last year, resulting in a $25 million acquisition for the company.

“We put together that deal in a very short period of time,” Marino told NHBR Daily. “But things go a lot easier when it is perceived to be in everybody’s interest to work together.”

In addition to Marino’s own experiences at Presstek, the book explores loyalty programs at FedEx and Lighting Source, and offers readers customer surveys and other tools to help build a “loyalty culture”.

Marino was CEO of Lighting Source – a print-on-demand and digital content delivery company – before taking the helm of Presstek three and a half years ago. – BOB SANDERS
