‘Peak Pitch’ marks ’06 return
Borealis Ventures, a seed and early-stage venture capital firm, is joining forces with the Mount Washington Valley Economic Council, Fresh Tracks Capital and the New Hampshire Advantage Foundation to sponsor the latest version of “Peak Pitch,” the event that attempts to introduce small business owners to investors on the ski mountains of New England.
Sparked by the idea of the “elevator pitch,” in which savvy businesspeople use elevator time to pitch their ideas, Peak Pitch ’06 encourages business owners to take advantage of the opportunity presented by a ride on a chairlift to pitch their ideas to venture capitalists, angel investors and commercial lenders.
“Peak Pitch ’06 offers a high-stakes and potentially high-reward chance for business owners to get one-on-one time with potential investors from across New England,” said Jesse Devitte of Borealis Ventures. “Businesses have six minutes and 1,400 vertical feet to convince potential investors that their idea is worth chancing hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars on.”
More than 100 entrepreneurs, investors and business advisors participated in last year’s inaugural event at Mount Sunapee Resort.
This year the event has been spread out over four days and will include four ski areas. The first will be held on: Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Attitash Mountain in Mount Washington Valley; Friday, March 3, at Vermont’s Bolton Valley; Thursday, March 16, at Mount Sunapee; and Thursday, March 30, at Sunday River, Maine.
