Micronetics unit nets $2.5m deal

Stealth Microwave, a subsidiary of radio frequency components manufacturer Micronetics of Hudson has been awarded a contract to produce high-power amplifiers on the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System platform for IP-Wireless, a developer of mobile broadband and multimedia technology.

The $2.5 million contract calls for new technology to be incorporated in a comprehensive wireless network being installed in New York City with hopes of enhancing existing wireless communications network with high-speed data and video capabilities. The new system also will allow for the deployment of new advanced wireless applications to support first responders and other pubic safety personnel.

Micronetics officials said they believe there will be a growing demand for this technology in the future.

“We have worked closely with IP-Wireless over the last few years to develop high performance amplifier technology for this type of deployment and expect more demand for these amplifiers in the future,” said David Robbins, CEO of Micronetics.

Delivery of the amplifiers will take place over a nine-month period starting in the forth quarter of 2007. – TRACIE STONE
