Business in Arts awards winners announced
Peter Bloomfield was named the recipient of the 2006 Business in the Arts Leadership Award May 9 at the Center of New Hampshire-Radisson Hotel in Manchester.
The award was presented by New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts, which annually honors business owners and community leaders who show support of the arts by sponsorships, staff involvement, project assistance and donated services to the arts throughout the state.
Bloomfield, president of Concord Steam Corp., was recognized for his extensive leadership and support of such cultural and arts institutions as the Capitol Center for the Arts, the Concord Community Music School and the New Hampshire Symphony. As a member of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, he championed the arts as a way to improve the quality of life and stimulate economic growth. He also was noted for his support to the Capitol Center for the Arts following the death of Executive Director M.T. Mennino, who died in November.
Other winners include:
• Bank of America, for its continued statewide support of such cultural institutions as The Music Hall and Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth, Currier Museum of Art and The Acting Loft in Manchester, and music programs serving underprivileged and immigrant populations.
• Laconia Savings Bank for its support of the New Hampshire Music Festival, a Lakes Region concert series of symphonic music, as well as the Granite State Opera, Papermill Theatre and Prescott Park Arts Festival.
• Church & Main, a marketing agency headquartered in Keene, for its support of arts in the Monadnock region such as The Moving Company Dance Center and Center Stage as well as encouraging its employees to volunteer for arts and cultural organizations.
• Supreme Audio, a Marlborough-based sound-system designer, for its financial contributions and product donations to such groups as the New Hampshire Dance Institute and the Colonial Theatre.
