Autodesk names new CEO

Autodesk announced Tuesday that it has named Carl Bass as its new chief executive officer and president. Bass currently serves as the software company’s chief operating officer.

He will take over for CEO Carol Bartz on May 1, when she becomes first executive chairman of Autodesk’s board of directors.

Autodesk is based in San Rafael, Calif., with offices in Manchester, and develops software for such industries as building, infrastructure, manufacturing, media and entertainment and wireless data. — CINDY KIBBE
