Local educators honored
REGION – A number of Nashua-area teachers and administrators were honored in the latest New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards, including:
– Superintendent of the year: Kenneth DeBenedictis of the Hollis/Brookline School District.
– Secondary school principal of the year: Bryan K. Lane, principal of Alvirne High School.
– Gifted educator of the year: Elise M. Racicot of Milford.
– Teacher of the year: Ida Dziura of South Elementary School, Londonderry.
– English teacher of the year: Elizabeth H. Juster of Londonderry High School.
Amherst Middle School was a finalist in the School of Excellence category for middle schools, and James Mastricola Elementary School of Merrimack was a finalist in the contest for primary schools.
The awards, known as the EDies, were presented last weekend at the 11th annual awards night by the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards Program, an independent, nonprofit group. Winners are chosen by a selection committee of educators and community members.
