Nashua Corp. settles patent case

Nashua Corp. has agreed to settle a patent infringement case brought by Oce Printing Systems GmbH.

Under AN agreement announced Monday, Nashua Corp. will no longer offer or sell the toner containers in question and the lawsuit will be dismissed.

“Settling the Oce litigation is a positive development for Nashua as it resolves an issue that has occupied management time and attention,” said Andrew Albert, Nashua Corp.’s president and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.

When the suit was filed in March, Nashua Corp. officials denied any infringement of Oce’s patents on its toner containers. Nashua Corp. announced April 5 that it was exiting the toner business so it could better focus on its other divisions, such as specialty papers.

In August, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey found that Nashua Corp. and two other companies are infringing on Ricoh Co. Ltd.’s toner bottle patents. – NHBR STAFF REPORT
