New Hampshire has received over $1 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help with preparations against an influenza pandemic.
The funds will help the state Department of Health and Human Services continue its ongoing plans against a widespread flu break out, such as one from an avian flu virus, at both the state and local levels.
“These federal resources are helping communities build the infrastructure to prepare for a potential pandemic,” said HHS Commissioner John Stephen, adding that “we also want to make sure that any planning we do takes an all-hazards approach to preparedness, so that our state is ready for whatever comes down the road.”
The funds are part of a second phase of national funding of $225 million, addressing gaps identified by the states in their in pandemic influenza planning efforts.
