NASHUA – A site on Pond Street that has been an eyesore for years will be cleaned up, and a 113-space parking lot for the Main Street Marketplace will be built there under a proposal approved unanimously by the Planning Board.
The lot will be built at the rear of the shopping plaza and will provide parking for employees and customers of the plaza stores, according to Gerald Prunier, a lawyer for the developer.
Prunier agreed with board members that that the site has been a mess for years and promised it will be cleaned up and maintained after the parking lot is built.
The plans call for the lot to be landscaped, and a lighting plan has been formulated so lights from the lot won’t shine into nearby homes, he said.
Project engineer Tim Watson said a retaining wall at the site will be raised for safety reasons, and a sidewalk from the lot to the plaza will be constructed.
No one appeared before the board to oppose the plan.
