LYNDEBOROUGH – The Budget Committee has scheduled meetings with all town committees, boards and department heads to discuss their proposals for 2005, as well as future plans for major expenditures.
Larger departments have been asked to prepare five-year plans in the past.
The meetings will take place Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at Citizens’ Hall and are open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend.
Lyndeborough has an elected Budget Committee of nine members, plus a selectman and a member of the School Board.
The panel prepares the town and school budgets that will be presented at Town Meeting.
A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held in early February, after which the budget is signed and posted with the warrant for Town Meeting. Once the budget is signed, no further changes can be made until the meeting.
In the rare instance where the Budget Committee and the Board of Selectmen do not agree on a figure, both amounts are presented to Town Meeting voters to make a choice or a compromise.
Meetings currently scheduled are:
Nov. 30: Highway Department.
Dec. 7: Capital Improvement Plan Committee.
Dec. 14: Police Department.
Jan. 4: Central School Board.
Jan. 11: Ambulance Service and Recycling Center (joint meeting in Wilton)
Jan. 18: Board of Selectmen.
Jan. 25: Work session.
