Tax rate rises 12 percent

WILTON – The new tax rate is $21.25 per $1,000 valuation, up from last year’s rate of $19.

The $2.25 hike is an increase of nearly 12 percent.

The largest increase is in the local school portion, now $13.10, up from last year’s $9.39, a result of special education costs at Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative School.

The town portion is $3.60, down a little from last year’s $3.95.

State school portion is $3.34, down from $4.37, and the county portion is $1.21, down from $1.29.
