Student named Presidential Scholar
HOLLIS – Christina S. Kang has been selected as a 2004 Presidential Scholar, U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige announced Tuesday in a written statement.
Kang was one of two people in the state, and 141 overall, to win the honor.
The scholars will be recognized for their achievements in Washington, D.C., in June, and will receive Presidential Scholars medallions in a ceremony sponsored by the White House.
A 29-member commission made the final selection from a field of more than 2,700 candidates. The commission includes leaders in the fields of education, law, business and finance, social services and government.
