Statewide roundtables to focus on family-friendly workplaces

Discussion series to begin March 22 at W.S. Badger

NH Businesses for Social Responsibility and the NH Women’s Foundation will be hosting a series of roundtables with New Hampshire business leaders to discuss family-friendly workplaces.

The first discussion will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at W.S. Badger in Gilsum, a company that Michelle Veasey, executive director of NHBSR, is “a stellar example of how businesses in New Hampshire are creating award-winning work cultures by focusing on the needs of their employees and community.”

According to Veasey, “family-friendly workplace practices distinguish businesses as highly desirable places to work, attracting and retaining the best and brightest talent and thus contributing to the bottom line.”

The roundtable series will five local businesspeople the opportunity to discuss their own successes and challenges with creating workplace practices and policies that are considered family-friendly, she said.

The roundtables also will feature discussion of data on family-friendly workplace practices in the Granite State that was collected by the NH Women’s Foundation.

“Our collaboration to drive these discussions is important, because these business practices engage and motivate employees, while overcoming gender-based stigmas and outdated traditions,” said Veasey. “Retaining top talent in the Granite State economy is a win-win for both our labor force and state-wide business community.”

Future roundtables will be held later in the year in the Manchester area, the Upper Valley and the Seacoast.
