Senate candidates to face off
AMHERST – Candidates for state Senate in District 11 have been invited to a forum on education by the Amherst Republican Committee and the Coalition for Adequate Education Funding. It will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 7-9 p.m. at the Clark School.
The Sept. 14 primary features Republican incumbent Andrew Peterson of Peterborough facing off against GOP challenger Peter Bragdon of Milford. No Democrat is challenging for the seat in the November election.
Also that evening, the coalition is co-sponsoring a candidate forum on education issues for District 19 of the state Senate in Derry. It plans to sponsor forums in other districts, including Nashua.
The format will consist mostly of questions on education funding issues, with additional questions on other education-related issues such as kindergarten. Time will be provided for questions from the audience.
The candidates will be provided the forum questions in advance so they can prepare.
District 11 includes Amherst, Greenville, Jaffrey, Milford, Mont Vernon, Rindge, Peterborough, Sharon, Temple and Wilton.
