Saturday accident victim identified
HUDSON – A victim in a car accident early Saturday morning was identified after a family member heard a police description of the man.
The man, who was hit by a car in front of Cumberland Farms, is Timothy P. Cote, according to police, who said they are still seeking more information about the 39-year-old Hudson man.
The accident happened around 2:10 a.m. in front of the convenience store. The driver, Robert Brown of Litchfield, told police that Cote had run into the street.
Cote was unconscious and did not have any identification on him at the time of the accident.
He is currently being treated at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.
After the accident, Brown immediately stopped his car and dialed 911, according to police. He stayed at the scene, preventing other cars from hitting the man. The police accident reconstruction team responded to investigate. It does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, Capt. Ray Mello said.
Police officers responding to the accident also noticed what appeared to be a burglary at the nearby Cumberland Farms.
A window was broken and numerous cartons of cigarettes were taken.
Police are investigating if there is any link between the victim and the burglary, according to Mello. Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the police at 886-6011.
