Resident gives Hudson $5,000 for open space

HUDSON – The town’s efforts to boost open space got an extra boost this week.

Resident Jean Serino presented the town with an early Christmas present Tuesday night.

She addressed the Board of Selectmen during public remarks, noting upon world events such as mudslides and tying those events with the importance of protecting open space.

“We need open space,” Serino said.

With that, Serino gave the board a Christmas card with a $5,000 check enclosed. The money is for the purchase and preservation of open space, she said.

The board will hold a public hearing on the donation.

Party time in town

LYNDEBOROUGH – The Board of Selectmen thought it would be fun to have a party for all the town employees and invited the town to come too, to meet the new police officers and all of the others who generally go unnoticed.

About 50 people showed up Monday for an evening of conversation, socializing and way too much food.

A large box of canned good was collected for the Open Cupboard Food Pantry in Wilton.

Selectmen said the party would become an annual event.
