Funding for Meeting Place, Havenwood-Heritage Heights progress … and more
The New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority has recently approved over $1 million in federal HOME funding for Berry Park Housing Corp., an affiliated entity of Avesta Housing Development Corp., to construct a third phase of the Meeting Place housing development in Exeter.
The third phase will add nearly 40 units of affordable family housing to the development. The Meeting Place, which is located off of Route 101, currently has two buildings — one dedicated to senior housing and one dedicated to family housing — that have a combined total of over 50 apartments.
In addition, the third phase will leverage private investment for affordable housing construction through the sale of federal Housing Tax Credits.
Cobb Hill Construction, Concord, has nearly completed construction of the eight units in Phase I of the redevelopment project at Havenwood-Heritage Heights in Concord, and has begun work on with 10 of the 15 units of Phase II.
The redevelopment is designed to update over 54,978 square feet of new construction while demolishing 4,658 square feet of existing cottages to provide additional living space, carports, and an updated design that is more reflective of the lifestyle of today’s retirees.
Tony Giunta has joined Concord-based Nobis Engineering Inc. with the goal of helping the firm to grow existing environmental engineering markets and expand into the rapidly evolving energy and sustainability sectors.
Giunta, a professional geologist, founded American Energy Independence Company, a renewable fuel manufacturer. He also worked for 15 years at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and is a former mayor of Franklin.
North Branch Construction Inc., Concord, won a 2014 Plan NH Merit Award for its work on the renovation of Families in Transition’s historic Manchester building.
North Branch President Ken Holmes and project manager Rob Dapice attended, along with Families in Transition representatives Maureen Beauregard and Darren Finch, who served as project superintendent, Great Bridge Properties principal Chris Davies, New Hampshire Housing construction analyst Ken Heath and project architects Steven Burnell and Brandon Reed.
Licensed land surveyor James O’Neil of Bedford has been named chief of survey for Bedford-based TFMoran Inc. He is a member of the New Hampshire Land Surveyors Association and former director of professional practice for the New Hampshire Landscape Surveyors Association.
A 1.87-acre parcel of riverfront land in downtown Laconia has been sold to Laconia Area Community Land Trust, which plans to build a three-story, affordable housing apartment building on the lot.
Called the River's Edge project, the project involves demolition of an unused warehouse to be replaced with 32 units of one- and two-bedroom apartments.
The property was last occupied by the F.W. Webb Company, a wholesale plumbing and heating firm.
