Hiltz Excavating’s big honor, Metro Walls’ new Maine office … and more
Jeremy Hiltz Excavating Inc. of Ashland was recently named Equipment World’s 2014 North American Contractor of the Year. The Contractor of the Year contest, sponsored by Caterpillar and judged by Equipment World, recognizes contractors with annual revenues of between $3 million and $15 million and exemplify the highest standards of construction professionals.
Owner Jeremy Hiltz was presented with the award at a ceremony in Las Vegas.
Founded in 1996, Jeremy Hiltz Excavating specializes in commercial site work, municipal and utility work and road building.
Metro Walls, based in Manchester, has opened a new office in Westbrook, Maine. Jim Roy has been named general manager/chief estimator of the new office. He most recently was chief estimator for Porter Drywall in Portland, Maine,
The historic Cocheco Mills in Dover has been named to the National Register of Historic Places, and five other Granite State properties have been named to the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places. They are: John Prescott Chase Farm, Epping; the Freedom Town Hall; Union House Tavern, Haverhill; Huse House, Manchester; and Baker Homestead, New Boston.
Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate/The Masiello Group has been named one of the 100 largest real estate companies in the United States by REAL Trends 500 — an annual research report.
It is the sixth consecutive year the Keene-based company has landed in the top 100 of the report, which ranks firms based on closed transaction sides. The firm is the only real estate brokerage in New England that earned a top 100 placement for its performance in 2013.
Masiello’s home services arm — which operates under the Great East name — was ranked 38th in the nation by REAL Trends for consumer services related to real estate, including mortgage, title and home warranty.
The town of Kingston and the city of Rochester have been named Certified Local Governments by the state Division of Historical Resources.
The Certified Local Government program promotes the preservation of prehistoric and historic sites, structures, objects, buildings and districts by establishing a partnership between local governments and the division.
Both Kingston and Rochester have historic district commissions that serve as advisory bodies to their municipal governments and land use boards, and both communities have locally designated historic districts.
Colby-Sawyer College in New London has received a $3 million gift from Bill and Sonja Davidow of Woodside, Calif., to support its campaign to build a new fine and performing arts center.
The art center project will provide a home for the growing arts programs under one roof.
