Affordable housing complex opens in Laconia … and more
River’s Edge Apartments, a 41,000 square-foot affordable housing complex overlooking the Winnipesaukee River in Laconia, officially opened its doors on Aug. 19.
Built by Bedford-based Eckman Construction, the three-story, 32-unit building has 12 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom units. The complex was financed by a collection of organizations, including NH Housing Finance Authority, Raymond James, NeighborWorks America, Community Development Finance Authority, the city of Laconia, Belknap County, Rural Local Initiatives Support Corp. and the Laconia Area Community Land Trust.
The complex was originally designed by architect George Hickey of Sanbornton, who died in February 2015. Warrenstreet Architects of Concord managed design services for the remainder of the project.
John Moscillo of Bedford has joined the staff of RE/MAX Insight’s Salem office. He previously worked at Keller Williams Realty Metropolitan.
CATCH Neighborhood Housing will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 13 at Odell Park in Franklin to begin work on the redevelopment of the Franklin Light & Power Mill into 45 workforce apartments. The event will begin at 2 p.m.
Applications are being sought for the fifth annual Flatley Challenge.
The challenge gives young high-tech companies a shot at free rent for one year for up to 5,000 square feet of office space at the Nashua Technology Park or Nashua Office Park at Gateway Hills, and up to $10,000 in fit-up, connectivity and related costs.
The competition is designed to assist startups and emerging businesses in the fields of IT, communications, data storage, connectivity, robotics, clean tech, medical devices, digital health, mobile app design, life sciences and other leading-edge technologies. This year, the firm said it is particularly interested in the emerging robotics category as well as women in technology.
Deadline for applications is Friday, Oct. 28. There is no application fee and candidates are encouraged to apply online at gateway-hills.com/flatley-challenge.
