Eckman wins Construction Excellence Award … and more
Home prices in New Hampshire increased by 5.6 percent in September from a year earlier, according to real estate data analytics firm CoreLogic. For the Manchester-Nashua area, the year-over-year increase was 5.2 percent, the company reported. Nationally, home prices increased year over year by 7 percent.
Prolman Realty Inc. has announced the sale of the 7,000-square-foot retail building at 441 Amherst St. in Nashua to 441 Amherst Street LLC. Mark Prolman and Lisa Ferrari represented the seller, Greenland Farms LLC, and assisted the buyer. Some 4,000 square feet of the property is leased to FedEx and 3,000 square feet is vacant. According to the Hillsborough County Registry of Deeds the property sold for $800,000.
Gov. Chris Sununu, NHDOT Commissioner Victoria Sheehan and members of the state Public-Private Partnership Infrastructure Oversight Commission have issued a call for public-private infrastructure project proposals.
The commission is looking for proposals that are suitable candidates for design-build-finance-operate-maintain or design-build-operate-maintain services. Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest at the NHDOT website.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock recently celebrated the official completion and dedication of the new Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care. The 30,000-square-foot facility incorporates several innovative amenities designed to increase support for patients’ and families’ physical, emotional and spiritual comfort. E4H Architecture designed the center, and construction was by PC Construction.
E4H also designed the recently opened multi-specialty clinic on the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital campus in Lebanon. The 44,000-square-foot facility, will house most of the hospital’s outpatient services in one location.
Kimberly LaFleur of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty has been elected president of the Greater Manchester/Nashua Board of Realtors. Other Verani agents elected to posts in the organization were: Eric L. Pelletier, re-elected as treasurer of the organization and will continue to serve as chair of the budget/finance committee; Steve White, appointed chair of the community service committee; Shirl Kula, elected as a director; Nancy Philbrick, elected as a director; and Angela Sullivan, elected as a director.
Harmony Homes by the Bay has opened its new eldercare facility in Durham. The facility, the first of an approved three-building project, includes 60 beds of assisted living and memory care services. The design and construction team for the project included McHenry Architecture of Portsmouth, TJN Construction, Summit Engineering, Petersen Engineering, MJS Engineering and Terrafirma Landscape Architecture.

Cobb Hill Construction recently completed renovation of an 19th century Victorian home for Lakeside Smiles, a pediatric dentistry practice in Alton.
Jewett Construction of Raymond has been contracted by the Center for Wildlife in York, Maine, to build a new 16,000-square-foot wildlife medical clinic and visitor center. Construction is contingent on capital campaign efforts currently underway, with over $1 million raised to date. The new facility is being designed by McHenry Architects of Portsmouth and civil engineering services are being provided by Ambit Engineering, also of Portsmouth.
Meanwhile, Jewett has hired Kevin Coyle of Plaistow as senior project manager. Prior to joining Jewett, Coyle worked for a nationally ranked contractor and brings both field and office construction management experience in mixed-use and retail development.
Eckman Construction of Bedford recently won an Associated Builders and Contractors NH/VT Excellence in Construction Award in the Institutional Projects over $10 Million category for its work on the NH Army National Guard’s Regional Training Institute and Barracks Facility in Pembroke. The two-building campus, which received LEED Silver certification, was also recognized with a Sustainable Building Award.
