FAA awards $3.5 million to MHT for reconstruction, NH Housing Finance Authority doles out grants ... and more

North Branch Construction has completed the renovation of Concord Coach’s corporate offices and maintenance facility located on Langdon Street in Concord, NH. The existing office and storage space within the building was renovated to create new offices, including all new window, mechanical, and electrical systems. The renovated facility also features a new training room, new conference room, and a new fitness room. Udelsman Associates of Hollis, NH provided design for this project.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $3.5 million to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport for needed airfield improvements. The FAA will provide funding to reconstruct approximately 1,200 feet of existing Taxiway H pavement that has exceeded its useful life. It will also provide funding to relocate associated stub Taxiway B to meet current design standards.

An Emerging Opportunities Program grant was awarded to Visions for Creative Housing, which provides supported housing for low-income developmentally disabled adults in the Upper Valley. Its $50,000 grant from the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority will be used to increase the number of supported housing settings around the state. By replicating its Enfield program model, the grant will help the organization and its partners expand over the next five years to six additional locations.

A second grant of $50,000 from the NHHFA was awarded to Avesta Housing to help identify and preserve multi-family rental housing for low and moderate income residents, with the goal of acquiring 100 apartments within a year. When these buildings (known as naturally occurring affordable housing, or NOAH) are sold, the new owners often raise rents, making the property less affordable for its tenants. By identifying NOAHs that are for sale, and subsequently supporting acquisition by a nonprofit developer, affordable rent levels in these buildings can be preserved for tenants.

Bill Parker, community development director for the Town of Milford, was recognized for his work and volunteer efforts at the annual NH Planners Association meeting in Hanover.

TFMoran has recently promoted Cassi Beroney to accounting assistant at it’s headquarters in Bedford. Beroney has been with the company for five years, previously serving as administrative assistant/receptionist. Evelyn Picozzi has joined TFMoran’s Portsmouth office as a project engineer. Picozzi has over 30 years of experience in drafting and designing, civil engineering, AutoCAD and piping engineering. Picozzi’s prior experience includes creating details of mechanical components for nuclear power plants, on-site field survey and numerous land development projects on the east and west coasts. TFMoran has also brought on Joshua Barr as a survey and environmental permitting summer intern at the Portsmouth office. Barr is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies from the University of New England.

B2W Software, a provider of heavy civil construction management software based in Portsmouth, has hired on construction industry financial and operations expert Herb Brownett in a consultancy role to assist contractors in optimizing the B2W ONE Platform for estimating and operations. Brownett held CFO and controller positions with regional and national contractors for more than three decades. He retired earlier this year as CFO of Brubacher Construction. Brownett was past national chairman of the Construction Financial Management Association and the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals.

James D. Kerouac has joined Bernstein Shur as a shareholder to the firm’s Manchester, New Hampshire office, where he will focus on all manner of commercial real estate and commercial lending transactions as part of the Real Estate Practice Group. Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Kerouac previously practiced at Wadleigh, Starr & Peters and at Nixon Peabody. 

Raymond-based Jewett Construction has promoted Dan Ray to manager of integrated design. His promotion is a result of exceptional performance in the role of pre-construction project manager over the past two years with the company. As manager of integrated design, Ray is responsible for the coordination of the design and construction teams from project conception through completion to ensure that clients receive best in class construction drawings and documents.  

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen re-introduced legislation to establish protections against sexual harassment in rental housing. Building on existing protections in the Fair Housing Act, the Combating Sexual Harassment in Housing Act would make it easier for victims, the Department of Justice and the Department of Housing and Urban Development to bring cases of sexual harassment to court. Specifically, her legislation would amend the Fair Housing Act to make egregious types of harassment against a tenant automatic violations of the statute, including unwelcome touching of a sexual nature or groping, or other actions of a sexual nature intended to be coercive, threatening or intimidating. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Al Franken (D-MN) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) are co-sponsors.

The design group at Office Interiors Limited in Dover has hired Danielle Anderson to the team. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Shintaro Akatsu School of Design at the University of Bridgeport. Formally of Wellesley Design Consultants, Danielle brings 5 years of experience in healthcare, senior living, assisted living and Alzheimer care.
