People and Property: Honoring ethics in construction; Nobis promotions, Laconia land trust wins CDFA credits … and more
Nominations are being sought for the 18th annual New Hampshire Construction Industry Ethics Award, an award presented to “the individual, business or organization that, through its words and deeds, best demonstrates a commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in construction.”
The award includes a $1,000 cash contribution to the recipient’s charity of choice.

Wood, a nationally known writer and newsletter publisher and past president of the Construction Writers Association, has championed the issue of ethics in construction.
“The award is not limited to contractors,” he said. “The recipient can just as well be an architect, owner, subcontractor or private individual. What’s important is that this entity has taken an action or pattern of actions that exemplify the highest level of integrity and adherence to ethical behavior involving construction.”
Concord-based Nobis Engineering Inc. has announced three recent promotions:
• Clarence “Tim” Andrews, promoted to senior project manager, has 18 years of experience as a remediation manager, site superintendent, contractor quality control manager and site safety and health officer on remedial construction projects.
• Erin Reardon Lambert, promoted to senior project manager, has 16 years of experience preparing site, grading and utility plans, landfill closure plans, contract documents, technical specifications and performing drainage analyses.
• Denis McGrath, promoted to project manager, has 16 years of environmental science and engineering experience, including managing environmental contamination investigations projects; design and implementation field investigation and data collection programs; environmental data management and data reduction; environmental data analysis and assessment; and environmental and geo-spatial data integration.
The Laconia Area Community Land Trust has been awarded $500,000 in tax credits by New Hampshire’s Community Development Finance Authority.
The organization said proceeds from the sale of the credits to business donors will be used to upgrade 60 units of permanently affordable rental housing owned by LACLT, many of which are showing significant wear and tear.
Twenty years ago, the Laconia Area Community Land Trust began rehabbing scattered-site apartments in Laconia. Five years later, LACLT finished its first major project – a $1.4 million revitalization of the city’s Avery Hill neighborhood. Pine Hill and other Land Trust projects quickly followed. Now LACLT is working on a Portfolio Strengthening Initiative for the aging properties.
Concord Commercial Real Estate has announced the sale of Chichester Commons at 114 Dover Rd., Chichester. Brenda Litchfield represented the seller, Estelle Moses, and assisted the buyers, Jonathan Halle and Laureen Halle.
Chichester Commons is a mall with tenants that include Austin Antiques, Chichester Massage, Kreative Flowers & Gifts, Custom Cups and Charlie Company Army Navy surplus. The transaction also included the contiguous 3.1 acres of land.
Flynn Construction Corp., Nashua, has begun construction of the expansion for the Gregory J. Flooring and Design Center at 520 Amherst St. in the Gate City.
The energy-efficient, 8,580-square-foot addition will house a new kitchen bath showroom featuring Wellborn kitchen cabinets.
