Public housing expansion in Concord, shipyard repairs … and more
The New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority has approved a $500,000 loan for Concord Housing + Redevelopment to renovate space in the John F. Kennedy public housing complex into additional apartments. The funding comes through New Hampshire Housing’s Special Needs program, which is designed to provide financing for projects serving populations that need more supportive services than are typically provided in traditional rental housing. Concord Housing will turn a portion of the building that used to house staff offices and an abandoned theater into accessible units, which will be called the Thompson Square Apartments.
Brookstone Builders Inc., Manchester, has been selected to repair weather-related damage to several buildings at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The scope-of-work will roof reparation or replacement, ceiling replacement, wall repairs, and all necessary finish work. Brookstone is acting as a subcontractor on the project with CCI Solutions of Augusta, Maine, serving as the primary contractor for maintenance at the shipyard. Mark W. Gemmiti will serve as Brookstone’s project manager.
CBH Landscape Contractors, Laconia, was among those recognized Nov. 14 at Volunteer NH’s Spirit of New Hampshire awards presentation. The awards honor outstanding contributions to volunteerism throughout the state. CBH received a Volunteer Champion Award. Over 90 different volunteers and organizations were recognized at the event.
Wilton-based ROK Builders has begun work on remodeling and updating the Residence Inn Fayetteville Cross Creek in Fayetteville, N.C. Renovations have been designed to better support extended-stay guests with a room design that offers living spaces that are more reflective of their lifestyles at home. A flexible wall will be installed into each suite that separates the room into zones, and the hotel’s public spaces will be redesigned.
Dennis Mires, The Architects, Manchester, has announced completion of renovations and addition for Wirebelt Co. of America at 154 Harvey Rd., Londonderry. The project included approximately 6,000 square feet of additional manufacturing space and consolidation of offices in approximately 5,000sf of new construction. Construction manager for the project was Sullivan Construction Inc., Bedford.
Jewett Metal Buildings & Steel Erectors, Raymond, has contracted with Maine Oxy to construct a warehouse addition at its South Portland, Maine, facility. The new 5000-square-foot Corle pre-engineered metal building will be connected to two other pre-existing structures — a retail building and a gas cylinder storage building. Firewalls are being constructed to separate the different uses of the spaces.
