PC Connection acquires Amherst Tech assets

PC Connection of Merrimack has acquired the assets of Manchester-based information technology firm Amherst Technologies LLC for $7.75 million.

The deal includes all customer relationships and related intangibles, intellectual property, and furniture, fixtures and equipment for $7,751,000.

“The purchase of assets of Amherst Technologies fits well with our goal of growing our business through acquisitions that allow us to add new customers and talent,” said Patricia Gallup, chair and CEO of PC Connection. “This acquisition particularly reinforces our commitment to the medium-to-large corporate sector, and at the same time helps build our ServiceConnection business by offering an even broader range of higher-end services to fulfill all or our customer needs.”

Amherst Technologies joins the division of MoreDirect Inc., PC Connection’s e-procurement unit for the acquisition of IT products and services, and will be overseen by MoreDirect, Inc. President, Jim Garrity.

Remaining assets will be combined with PC Connection Sales Corp. to assist with its sales to small and medium-sized businesses or Merrimack Services Corporation which provides back-end services to all sales subsidiaries including ServiceConnection, the provider of value-added IT services.

The Oct. 25 announcement comes three days before PC Connection is scheduled to release its third-quarter operating results. Interested parties can listen in on the quarterly conference call at pcconnection.com. – NHBR STAFF REPORT
