Dan “Desi” Lanio, co-owner of the 401 Tavern in downtown Hampton, was named the Rotary Club of Hampton’s Citizen of the Year at a ceremony sponsored by Optima Bank & Trust at Ashworth by the Sea. Lanio was recognized for his work raising money for charity, supporting the troops with care packages and hosting a buffet for police officers in his restaurant’s parking lot following the recent funeral of Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney, killed in the line of duty.
