NHBR About Town: Granite United Way

At its recent 2011 Southern Region Campaign Celebration, the Granite United Way presented its Chairman’s Award to boys from the Mayhew Program. Each summer, the Bristol-based Mayhew Program hosts an annual tuition-free summer camp for at-risk New Hampshire boys. Last year, more than half the boys at the camp chose to donate some of their ‘Mayhew Money’ — which they earn each time they complete a work project — to the Granite United Way, which totaled the equivalent of $185. Pictured at the ceremony are, from left, Bill Sherry of National Grid and 2011 campaign chair; Maria Gudinas, vice president of resource development at Granite United Way; Emmanuel Alisandro, Bennett Davis and Caelan McCormack from Mayhew; and Gov. John Lynch.
