NH Women’s Foundation selects new CEO

Longtime nonprofit executive named to lead organization

Tanna Clews, a longtime executive at nonprofits in New Hampshire and Maine, has been named the new CEO of the NH Women’s Foundation.

She succeeds Terie Norelli, former speaker of the NH House of Representatives.

Clews, whose selection as CEO was announced on Nov. 9 at the foundation’s annual Women Building Community Luncheon in Manchester, most recently was an executive and strategic consultant working with the NH Charitable Foundation, NH Department of Education and the Community College System of New Hampshire on education and workforce development initiatives. Immediately before that, she led the merger of two organizations to form Educate Maine, which promotes college, career readiness and increased educational attainment. She was its executive director.

She also has worked at Phillips Exeter Academy as well as on a number of state and national political campaigns. She has served on the board of A Safe Place, now known as Haven, a violence prevention and support services agency, and was longtime chair of the board of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.

Clews brings a passion for gender equality along with more than 15 years of nonprofit management, fundraising, political and advocacy experience to the position, said Mary Jo Brown, chair of the Women’s Foundation.

“As a skilled nonprofit executive and champion for gender equality, Tanna has the experience and passion to be a strong and effective CEO and to move the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation forward into its next chapter,” said Brown.
