N.H. Energy Summit set for Oct. 22

The New Hampshire Energy Summit, a conference focused on New Hampshire energy policy, will be held Monday, Oct. 22, in Concord.

The summit is organized by the Dupont Group, a Concord-based government and public affairs firm, in conjunction with member organizations of the New Hampshire Independent Energy Council.

The NHIEC is a group of New Hampshire-based energy generators and suppliers that supports competitive electric markets.

Jim Monahan, chief organizer of the event, said the energy summit "will offer a morning-long dialogue on some of the more critical energy issues facing New Hampshire. "He said organizers plan to include three main subjects:
• Low natural gas prices and how they are affecting, and will continue to affect, energy and environmental policy as well as the opportunities they present to the manufacturing sector
• Competitive energy markets in New Hampshire
• The changing landscape of energy efficiency

"The goal of the New Hampshire Energy Summit is to look broadly at the foundational elements of the New Hampshire energy arena, rather than honing-in on specific legislation or regulatory proceedings," said Monahan. "By doing so, we hope to set the stage for the upcoming legislative session, and in some measure, to help frame the later stages of state elections."

In addition to featured speakers on natural gas markets and energy efficiency, the two state gubernatorial candidates have been invited to attend.

The New Hampshire Energy Summit will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Concord. Mid-sized and large energy users, energy trade professionals and policymakers are encouraged to attend.
