N.H. bankruptcy filings continue to drop

New Hampshire’s bankruptcy crest, which began in the spring of 2009, has now subsided. Ever since May, the number of filings in 2011 has not just been lower than last year’s, but below 2009 filings as well. And in October 2011, the figure was even smaller than in 2008.Some 369 households and business filed for bankruptcy in October, six fewer than September but 70 fewer than September 2010 and nearly 100 below the 2009 level.Year to date, bankruptcies are 11.6 percent lower than the same period in 2010, when a record total of 5,500 said they couldn’t pay their bills. There were eight filings by businesses, one more than last month and three more than the month before, but the October figure is misleading. Five filings were related to other bankruptcies, two of which were filed in previous months. One involuntary bankruptcy was dismissed (not listed below) and another dismissal is pending. • Donson Group Ltd., Keene (consolidated into Kingsbury Corp. and Ventura Industries LLC, both of which were filed in October), filed Oct. 3, Chapter 11.
