Meeting set with school finalists
Amherst and Mont Vernon residents who want to meet the three finalist candidates for the School Administrative Unit 39 superintendent of schools position will have the chance to do so today.
From 2:30 to 4:45 p.m., the three candidates will rotate through the Community Room of the Brick School in Amherst to meet and talk with people.
The SAU 39 Board will interview the finalists in a non-public session on Thursday. The board expects to make its decision that night. The board will announce the new superintendent after the terms of the agreement are finalized.
The three finalists are: Howard Colter, superintendent of Maine School Union 98 in Mont Desert Island, Maine; Timothy Mayes, the assistant superintendent of finance in the Bedford School District; and Barbara Tremblay, the assistant superintendent of schools of SAU 29 in Keene.
The 18-member search committee to replace Michael Ananis originally narrowed down the field to four different finalists in February. It decided at that time to reopen the search to new applicants because it hadn’t found the right fit.
The search committee is made up of Amherst and Mont Vernon parents, faculty, and staff.
The new superintendent will start work July 1.
