Man hurt in cycle crash

MERRIMACK

A 24-year-old local man was injured Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a sports utility vehicle on Baboosic Lake Road.

Joshua Wetherbee was listed in fair condition at 7:30 p.m. at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, where he was transported by ambulance following the crash, a hospital nurse said.

He was later transferred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, where his condition was unavailable, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Wetherbee was injured when his 1975 Honda motorcycle crashed head on with a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, Merrimack police Lt. Richard Desmond said.

The crash occurred at about 2:50 p.m. at the intersection of Scenic Vista Way and Baboosic Lake Road.

The driver of the Jeep, A. William Cabral, 60, of Merrimack was not injured in the crash, Desmond said.

The crash occurred as Cabral, who was traveling north in the Jeep on Baboosic Lake Road, attempted to make a left turn onto Scenic Vista Way, Desmond said.

Wetherbee’s motorcycle, which was traveling south on Baboosic Lake Road, collided with the Jeep as it was just beginning to make the turn, Desmond said.

Wetherbee, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was sent flying over the handlebars of the bike onto the hood of the Jeep, before landing on the side of the road about 10 feet away, Desmond said.
