Hearing slated on Archibald Land buy

MONT VERNON – The Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing tonight on allocating $40,000 toward the purchase of property known as the Archibald Land.

The hearing is a formality required by state law, as the $320,000 purchase has already been approved by Town Meeting.

The 65-acre property abuts Lamson Farm, which was bought by the town two decades ago in the town’s first major piece of land preservation.

The hearing will be held during the Conservation Commission meeting, at 8 p.m. at the Town Hall.
