Governor to speak at Pelham park

PELHAM-Gov. Craig Benson will speak at the grand opening of Dennis P. Lyons Memorial Park on Saturday.

The park is named after a police officer who recently died after a lengthy battle with cancer.

The park has two lighted basketball courts, a tee-ball field, and a brick memorial to Lyons. It will also have a skateboard park.

The park is the work of residents of Pelham and neighboring towns, who donated time, money and materials. The town’s Police Department directed the work.

Southern New Hampshire University head basketball coach Stan Spirou will also speak Saturday, refreshments will be served and exhibition basketball games will be played from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The event is free and begins at 10 a.m.
