Lithuanian celebration set
A commemorative celebration saluting Lithuania’s rebirth, independence and culture will be held Sunday at Rivier College’s Dion Center on Clement Street.
Lithuanian Heritage Day has become an annual event for the Lithuanian community. Entertainment this year will be provided by well-known performers from Lithuania, Nelly and Eugenijus, with a repertoire of song and dance routines.
The day’s festivities will begin with a 1 p.m. Mass in the Lithuanian language at the Rivier College chapel. Mass will be concelebrated by Monsignor Contorts and the Rev. Janiunas. Following Mass, the Lithuanian Heritage Day program will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be held at the Dion Center, near the chapel. There is ample parking near the Dion Center.
There is no admission charge to the Heritage Day program; tax-deductible donations will be accepted to support two orphanages and a school for disabled in Lithuania. The event is funded by the Charles Zylonis Fund of the Nashua Public Library.
